김연아는 한국 방문의 해 홍보 대사로 활동하면서 2018 평창 동계올림픽 유치에 기여한 공로를 인정받았다. 소지섭은 강원도 홍보 대사로 활동하며 여행 포토 에세이를 통해 한류 팬 유치에 앞장선 공로를 인정받았다.
김연아와 소지섭 외에 소백산 자락길과 안동 하회마을, 순천만 자연생태공원, 청송 송소고택, 전주비빔밥 고궁을 비롯해 태백 종합관광안내소와 경주시 문화 관광 홈페이지, `엄마와 함께하는 공부여행`의 이동미 작가, 유한 킴벌리 등이 각각 한국 관광의 별로 선정됐다.
시상식은 14일 오전 국립중앙박물관에서 열리며 수상자와 단체에는 문화체육관광부 장관상을 비롯하여 상패 및 상금 500만원이 각각 수여된다.
